FILE THIS UNDER "CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP"

DAYTON — A man without legs threatened another man, telling him he would “throw a bomb through your window” on Monday, Dec. 28, according to Dayton Police.

The 46-year-old man told police that the legless man drove into his yard in a Jeep Grand Cherokee at about 1 p.m. and said, “Where is my money? If you don’t have my money, I will throw a bomb through your window.”

The man making the threat operated the vehicle’s foot pedals with sticks or some other apparatus, according to a Dayton police report.

The complainant said he has had previous problems with the man, but did not know where he lived or how to find him.

The complainant said his estranged wife used to provide in-home nursing care for the man. At some point during that time, the man said she stole $470 from him by using his bank card. Records indicated he filed a theft report on Dec. 21.

Police attempted to locate the man at his home by using the license plate information provided by the complainant, but did not find him at home. He could face a misdemeanor menacing charge.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. Now where is the next set of questions?

CHECK YOUR MAIL!

Has anyone gotten a letter yet from the oil company?

I just talked to Betty Coots Scott* and she said she hasn't received one yet but she had just gotten off the phone with another cousin, Sue**, and Sue had received hers today. Betty said it comes by registered mail and you have to notarize it and send it back. She didn't know what was in the letter.

When we hung up, Bonnie Baker*** was calling her so maybe she got a letter today too.

Betty had left mine and Mark's addresses off the list she sent to the oil company so she is just now sending our information to them which means Mark that you and I won't get a letter for awhile.

So, if anyone gets a letter, please let me know. I am also sending Jim a message on facebook to let him know the letters are being sent out and to see if he is still going to check into this.

*Betty Coots Scott---greatgranddaughter of Henry Coots, granddaughter of Lillie Coots (H's brother), daughter of Cyril Coots (dad's cousin)

**Sue Coots ??--granddaughter of Henry Coots, daughter of Columbus Coots (H's brother)

TYLER'S ADDRESS

Edited******You need to put PFC before Tyler's name*****

Here is the address for Tyler in Iraq.

PFC Trimbach, Tyler
FCO5 1-37AR 1-1AD
FOB Warrior APO AE 09338

He's far from home and fighting a war. He'd love to hear from anyone and everyone. If you want to send him something, send a phone card so he can call home - make sure it's an international one. If you want to send him a care pkg, he'd love it, I'm sure!! If you do send him a care pkg, check out this site first for a list of what you can and can't send over there! I think there's also a gov site but damned if I can find it.....anyone? You could also call Pete and see if he's mentioned needing anything in particular. I heard on TV that baby wipes were great to send - they use them to wipe off the sand & dirt when they're out and about. Also, Tyler can watch DVD's on his laptop if you want to send those.

Cards and care packages should be sent no later than the 10th (i think i heard this date on tv) to arrive by Xmas. I should've posted this earlier, I got the address on Thanksgiving. But I stuck it in my purse and just found it today. Sorry! But don't let that stop you from sending him a card or whatever.

Tyler is far from home, it's Christmas and he's surrounded by weary troops and crazy, suicidal idiots. Let's show him some support and love, Coots style!

A HEARTWARMING THANKSGIVING STORY

A koala was sitting in a gum tree smoking a joint

when a little lizard walked past, looked up and said, 'Hey Koala! What are you doing?'

The koala said, 'Smoking a joint, come up and have some.'

So the little lizard climbed up and sat next to the koala where they enjoyed a few joints. After a while the little lizard said that his mouth was 'dry' and that he was going to get a drink from the river.

The little lizard was so stoned that he leaned over too far and fell into the river.

A crocodile saw this and swam over to the little lizard and helped him to the side. Then he asked the little lizard, 'What's the matter with you?'

The little lizard explained to the crocodile that he had been sitting with the koala in the tree, smoking a joint, but got too stoned and fell into the river while taking a drink..

The crocodile said that he had to check this out and walked into the rain forest, found the tree where the koala was sitting finishing a joint. The crocodile looked up and said,

'Hey, you!'

So the koala looked down at him and said,

'Shiiiiiiiiiiit dude...

How much water did you drink!?'

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

HALLOWEEN

What's that you say? It's almost Thanksgiving so why I am posting Halloween pictures, you say?

It's just the way I roll these days. Things get done when they get done. So.

Ray and I went to visit Rick on Halloween to check out the annual display they put on in their garage. This year was a kind of corpse bride theme....pretty cool.

The groom and the...ummm...UN-preacher thingy waiting on the bride to walk down the aisle (check out the guests)

The lovely (?) bride. She was radiant!

The goody table at the "reception"

Check out the wedding cake............clever!

And, at the back of the garage there was a haunted pirate bar......it was actually really cool and kinda spooky. However, I DID NOT see that damn Chuckie doll until just now.......probably a good thing!

It was all really cool and they got lots of compliments from trick or treaters. They really put a lot of effort into this every year and Kathy does a great job in the creativity department! Rick does a great job in the actually making it work department!

TYLER

FYI

Tyler is being deployed tonight (8:30 p.m. CST), heading for Iraq. I talked to him on the phone Sunday night at Pete's.

Tyler said his job will be Recovery and he will be going out to get troops who have broken down or left stuff behind.

He is nervous about going to Iraq but hopes it will be safer than Afghanistan.

He thinks he should have his email set up by Christmas but doesn't know. He does have the email addresses for Pete, Me, Peg and Lola so he can email us as soon as it's available. I will email him the blog address then so he can stay in touch with all of us. He will use calling cards to talk with his parents and Pete until then.

I told him we love him and we'll all be thinking about him and I know it'll be fine and he'll come home safe.

I remember when I was a kid and I would hear the song, Billy Don't Be A Hero, playing on the school bus radio. I woke up thinking about that song this morning.

Please God, let him come home safe.

DOUG!!

Doug will receive his prize in the next week (or so) and I will post a picture of the prize on the blog.

DARRELL AND JOHNNY

I stopped by and visited with Rick today. He said Gary Speakman has asked him for your numbers and/or email addresses. I think he wants to just talk with you guys. I know he calls Doug & Rick occasionally (and, for awhile, me!). Rick said he doesn't think Gary has any family left but his brother & sister who are both mentally disabled and live in group homes. So, anyway, I told Rick I'd ask you guys first before I gave him your number or email address. So is it okay if email Rick your info? Rick has Gary's email and he'll just forward it on to him.

Let me know soonest.

Wesley

well yesterday we did the shower thing and it took 2 1/2 hours total for a shower. needless to say we wont be doing that every day. That really wore him out. I think that he's been sitting up too much so I've been trying to get him to lay down more.Luckily he's not fighting me too much on that. I'll probably be here fro another week or so . I wont leave until I know that wes can do things for himself while he's home alone during the day. I will try to keep ya'll posted evryday on his progress ok? well I'm going to go see if he's ready to get up this morning. Talk to everybody later

Wesley got to come home last night. Hw and I are staying at his uncle Kris's house. He can walk some but not for verylong He has to keep the back and neck brace on at all times even during a shower. Tomorrow morning we're going to try the shower thing. I guess we'll see how it goes. We have a lawyer and were looking into what can be done. we went up to the FHP to geta copy of the accident report. It costs $10. WTF! I also spoke to the Supervisor about some concerns I have with the report and stuff that happened,. Like !. Why he didnt speak to anybody except the kid that hit wesley 2. where are his belongings3. Why didnt they take photos? we do have the bike back and it looks like he was sideswipped. anyway. I'm trying to get things done while I'm here.

WESLEY UPDATE

Okay, here's what I know from Michelle. Wesley's neck and back are broken and he is in neck & back braces. Clearly, he is still in a lot of pain. They have had him up and trying to sit up for awhile. She just said this time they were trying for an hour. They are moving him to another room...room 6518. I don't know when he will be able to come home. Michelle will update me later & I'll post more when I know it. If you have facebook, you might get more info there or quicker as Michelle can post to facebook from her phone, not sure about the blog. She wanted me to post these pics on the blog for her. He looks pretty bad and is obviously hurting, but Wes clearly benefitted from the power of prayer going round for him!

WESLEY

Wesley was hit by a car last night as he biked home from work. He has a broken neck, possibly a broken back and has no feeling in his right leg. I do not think he has any serious head injuries. He is in a lot of pain, obviously. I last spoke with Michelle about 3pm so this is all I know at this time. She will call to update me tonight or tomorrow and I will post update on here and facebook.

Wesley is at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Please keep him (and Michelle) in your prayers.

WEATHER REPORT

According to DaytonDailyNews.com, the temperature here in Dayton is 59 degrees but FEELS like it is 60 degrees.

I am glad they are so accurate in their reporting! I was just saying (to myself), "This does not FEEL like 59 degrees, it FEELS more like 60!"

I'm still having problems with the accuracy of the time. For instance, it is 9:27 a.m.

But, it FEELS like it should be 9:28 a.m.

GLAD TO HEAR EVERYBODY "DOWN THERE" IS OKAY!

BUT, THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING DOWN THERE WHERE YOU DON'T BELONG! IF YOU WERE "UP HERE" WHERE YOU CAME FROM, (ON THE HIGH GROUND), YOU WOULDN'T BE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FLOOD.

Some were taken by Steven Willard in his granparents yard which was right across from Grandmas trailer. The others were taken by my freind Mark who lives two houses down from where Darrel and Joyce used to live. The white double wide was the one right across from their old place.

UPDATE ON NOAH

Those of you on facebook know Kim's son, Noah, had a bicycle accident yesterday and fractured his skull.

Noah came home from the hospital today and Kim says he is feeling better. He wasn't feeling too well this morning and had some trouble eating because it hurt to open and close his jaw. They also ran some more tests, including a hearing test.

Noah does have some hearing loss. He will have to wear a neck brace for 4 weeks and he has some other restrictions. He'll go back to school next week. They said it could take up to a year for the skull to heal so he will have to be extra careful not to re-injure himself.

I'm sure one of those precautions will be for him to ALWAYS wear his helmet when riding his bike.

He's a very lucky little boy (but he sure did look pitiful laying there in the hospital bed with that neck brace on)!

MORE PICS OF YOUR DADDY'S FAMILY

Jim sent me some pics via Facebook.

Here is our grandmother, Anna Holcomb (Halcomb?) Coots.

Here are H, Annie and all the kids except for our dad. I think he was probably away at school at Kingdom Come. This house is in the "New York" section of Cumberland, on the street behind Susan's old house. Pete and I went through it once years ago when Susan's friend, Faye Goody, lived there. It is much smaller than you'd think by looking at this picture.

Here's Mom and Dad with the Coots clan in Raleigh, NC around 1972-74. In this photo is James "H" Coots, Betty and Cooley Coots, Cleo Coots Napier, Jessie and Bonnie Coots Baker, Ruby Coots Whipkey, Leo Coots and Mabel Coots Jones.

Jim also sent me some pics of his mom and dad. I always liked Cooley and Betty Jane. Here is Cooley when he was in the service.

Betty Jane Coots as a young woman, probably before she got married.

Betty Jane and Cooley. Jim doesn't know where or when this was. I think, for some reason, this was at their house in Miamisburg. Any thoughts?

I think we have some of these pictures, somewhere. I've seen a couple of them before. Well, that's all I've got for now...

Sunday, August 30, 2009

WELL IT'S NOT THE LOTTERY....

To my brothers and sister:

Yesterday Cooley's son, Jim, emailed me via Facebook (we're "friends on there and have been talking). He said a woman named Betty Coots Scott had contacted him. Apparently, our great grandfather, Henry (H's dad) sold some property in KY a long time ago but never sold the mineral rights. An oil company is now wanting to contact each living descendant of Henry's about this. Betty does a lot of genealogy and has just about everyone's information but ours.

So I called her today and spoke with her about it. I've talked with her before regarding the genealogy stuff, she's on the up & up (her dad and our dad were cousins). She wants me to send her all of our names, addresses and phone #'s. I agreed to do this as long as you are okay with it.

I mentioned to Jim that we (meaning he) should maybe check into this a little more and he agreed. Betty told me the name of the oil company is Equity and they are a real company, I checked on line. Betty has the name & phone number of the guy from Equity and I'm hoping Jim will call and see if he can get any additional information.

So, to recap: Our great-grandfather, Henry, sold some property back in the day but did not sell the mineral rights. An oil company now has some interest in these mineral rights and wants to contact all of us. I do not know how much, if anything, these rights are worth. I suspect not much, but really have no clue. I know Betty is legit but I do not know about this guy or Equity's interest in it. Hopefully, Jim will be able to find this out.

I am going to email Betty all of our addresses and phone numbers. Pete, Doug and I are okay with this. I will email Betty this information Wednesday night so if for some reason, you don't want me to include your address and phone number, you need to let me know by Wednesday (Pete said by the close of business - 5pm - ).

Also, Betty has a lot of genealogy information she's going to send me - pictures, names and dates and stuff! So, that's cool! And Jim was kind enough to send me a picture of our three remaining Coots aunts, taken last month. Here is Ruby, Jim, Mabel and Bonnie. They are in their eighties now.

***if you want to know more, comment me, email me or call me. i tried to keep this as brief as possible****

MORE PICS FROM TYLER & CASEY'S SHINDIG

Yes, Lola, Ray HAS been slacking lately and he continues to do so by emailing me these pictures instead of downloading them himself. Oh well, what's a sister to do?

So here's some more pics.......with a surprise guest! Many of you already know by now Casey's dad, Doyle, has been battling a rare and vicious form of cancer. Although he was very sick and in the hospital early in July, he was able to make the trip to MO to see Casey graduate from his National Guard training at the end of the month. He also came to the party for Casey and Tyler at Pete's. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

There's a reason all his drill sergeant's call him Bobby. As in Hank Hill's son, Bobby.

Casey and his dad minus the tongue.

Doyle and his wife, Deb.

Sigh. Dudes, they gave him a GUN.

Kati and her boyfriend, Chris.

The back of Ray's head.

Tyler hanging out. I spy Lola.

Kati, Deb, Doyle, Tyler and Ray.

Everybody just hanging out. Maybe waiting to eat. Maybe waiting on Kim. Hmm. Michelle, I don't see you there.

I know you think you already saw this one on Lola's post but I included it because it's the only one of the EIGHTEEN shots we took where Jasmine did not have her arms crossed, looking ready to rumble.

Also, Tyler told me he was going to get a laptop before leaving for Iraq so he could keep in touch with us. He's supposed to let me know as soon as he sets up an email addy so I can add him onto the blog. He'll then be able to keep us posted and we'll be able to talk to him via Skype. I'll post his address as soon as I know it.
