Amelia Update 2

We've had some visits with Amelia. The first one on October 30 was to go over her service plan there and we got to stay with her for about 2 hours. The visit went well; she was very glad to see us and sad to have us leave. She wasn't disrespectful or any of her usual behaviors. We had our second visit last week and spent our time in the facility game room playing pool and checkers. Again, she was very enjoyable to be with and did better when we left but was still sad. Her phone call this week was very cheerful and positive and she had been off level one--the lowest level--for a bit more than a week. We were supposed to have our first off campus visit Saturday but there was a problem at school, the negative report came home and she is back on level one which means no office campus visit. We aren't even sure that we get one at all. Have to call again in the morning since I didn't get the messages till I got home tonight. She's gotten a letter from Aunt Susan that she seemed very tickled to get. We just hope that when she writes back, she doesn't use any of those texting shortcuts so that Susan will know what she's talking about. Anyhow, we aren't sure about the holiday schedule. She still has to earn her off campus visits and she's no where near getting home or overnight visits yet. Keep praying.
I'm enjoying the posts and the music trivia but I do better with entertainment trivia like what was the name of the first Dracula movie that was a silent film? Blah, blah, blah.
The idea of a contest would be good--I'm think frequent poster would go to Cooterizer. I could be wrong. Anyhow, I will try to post some pics of us and our tiny tribe. I think that we got some good pics when in Kentucky that last time. Very nice trip--again. Susan mentioned wanting us to come down again in January--and I KNOW that all of you are ALL about that!! Eh?
And those of you who are griping about being here--the onliest reason that we all ARE still here is family. We just need somewhere else we can all migrate to. Ray and I vote for southeast Utah. Hands down. Someday.
That's all for now. Talk at ya, later.

Perhaps...

You all should sign up for that new game show...Duel. It's a trivia game and since you are all about the trivia (although i am better than any of you) why don't you audition and win us some money? Go to abc.com for more details.

Glad to see everyone having fun, though!!!

P.S. did anyone see the EAGLES on the CMA awards wednesday nite. Ahhh, life is good sometimes. Oddly enough, although the actual band was there: Don Henly, Glenn Frey, Timothy B Schmidt and Joe Walsh (not sure about Don Felder, i think he was a no show) - Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne were nowhere to be found. And I believe that says it all, DOUG!!

SOMETHING NEW

JUST TO TRY AND KEEP THINGS INTERESTING, I THOUGHT I WOULD START A LITTLE MUSICAL TRIVIA CONTEST(PRIZES TO BE DETERMINED AT A LATER DATE). I WILL REVEAL A FEW LINES OF A SONG, AND YOUR MISSION, (SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO ACCEPT IT ), IS TO GUESS THE TITLE OF THE SONG AND THE ARTIST. PRETTY GOOD IDEA HUH, ALTHOUGH I'M PRETTY SURE IT'S ALREADY BEEN DONE. ANYWAY, WE WILL KEEP A MENTAL TALLY OF WHO GETS THE MOST RIGHT AND THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED PUBLICLY ON ONE OF THE MAJOR NETWORKS(OR, IF THEY REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE I WILL JUST NAME THE WINNER ON THE BLOG).

HAPPY TRAILS.

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Well clan........December 23rd marks our first anniversary of the family blog. All in all, I would have to say it's been an enormous success. I just wish more of us would participate, including the lurkers.

I have really been enjoying this first year and all the posts and contributions. I feel like it's brought our family closer and kept us connected. It's rare when we get together now in person and don't mention the blog. It's also rare when we get together now and don't post about it. More activity on the blog would be nice.....but I know we are all checking it on a regular basis even when we don't post something. Yes, I know you've been here and when.......much to Pete's chagrin and annoyance.

I'm bringing up the one year anniversary now because I think it would be cool to do something special for it. I don't know if that would be a vote on the best post this year; the best pics; the most frequent poster....we could come up with some kind of award or prize for that. Other options could be: each family submit a family group pic or a group of pics of their family; or some other kind of family oriented post. A contest of some kind. An on line game get together. Stories, remembrances, etc.

Since you are all (in one way or another) a Coots, I want your ideas and thoughts on this. This is a family effort, not mine.......I just moderate and keep the thing going (with as little effort as possible :-p ). However, if I must do this by myself, I will. Unless I don't feel like it, then I won't.

So, send me your ideas, thoughts, suggestions (real ones, Doug, Mark and John). Think about it for a couple of weeks if you want. Email me your ideas, etc. Don't post about it, just email me. November 30th will be the cutoff date to submit your ideas. I will post the ideas and suggestions as they come in. We can vote on them after the 30th and the majority will rule (unless otherwise stated in section 14, paragraph 6 of the rules and regulations made up by the moderator). I will post the final results. I'd like to get this done and have our anniversary post - whatever it might be - ready to go on December 23rd.

So, as Darrell would say, get your wheels turning and come up with some ideas. Email them to me by 11/30/07.

Let's see what we can do to make the anniversary post really unique!!
