Romantic Valentine's Weekend Getaway.

Ray & I were able to get away for a few days while Amelia was still away for more than a few days and went to Milwaukee to the Harley Davidson Museum. Not your typical romantic getaway but it was very cool. We spent 5 1/2 hours in the museum and saw some of downtown Milwaukee including the clock in the middle of the city that we all used to see on Laverne and Shirley.

The top photo is the Harley that Elvis Presley purchased from the Memphis Harley Davidson dealership--had the original paper work in the display case in front of it. Ray was being interactive with the compression demonstration. The last photo is the first motorcycle produced by Harley Davidson--displayed in the "hyperbaric" chamber.
There was a really interesting display about the first of their racing teams. Motorcycles (some very unique ones--like the Rhinestone bike) had been donated by owners; there was a video wall of Harley owners' stories; the design lab was really great too--got to see how the plans went from brown paper bags to clay models to the real thing. There was one area totally dedicated to the Harley in the movies--like Easy Rider, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, a number of those old cheesy, bad biker movies--it was a continuous showing of clips from all of them plus some of the memorabilia from them.

Yes, it was cold in Milwaukee and it did snow briefly but not a lot. It was fun anyway.
