TYLER'S GRAD PARTY
Pete had the graduation party for Tyler this evening. Good food (Kim made this awesome Mexican chicken!) and good time! Tyler is the first of Kim's kids to graduate and the first of Pete's kids and grandkids to graduate, so we were all really proud of him. I am particularly proud of him because he stuck with it when he could have just gave it up a couple of years ago, especially with all the school shuffling he went through. Unfortunately, Tyler's plans to enter the Navy in October fell through when the Navy denied him because of his eyes. This was a big disappointment to Tyler, because after the Air Force denied him, he was pretty sure he had gotten in the Navy.
I remember years ago, when Tyler was just a little boy and had his first cataract surgery, how he cried when the doctors told him he would never be a fighter pilot. That was all he ever wanted, it was his dream. This poor kid, who's been through so much with his eyes and finally, FINALLY has pretty good eyesight, still can't get into any of the armed forces. Tyler knew he wouldn't ever be a pilot but he thought he could at least serve and get an education. I asked Pete if maybe the Coast Guard would accept him since they don't really go into combat....they're more rescue and patrol. Don't know but I hope he finds something.
Anyway, we are all proud of him and he seemed to really appreciate the party. Doyle (Kati and Casey's dad) even sent him some money via Kati as a present. Kati said her Dad told her he might as well give SOMEONE a graduation present! Doyle - 2 points; Kati and Casey - 0.
Doug tried to tell Ray the joke Paul told us at Peg's that last morning, but couldn't remember part of it. Neither could Pete or me, so Pete called Mike in Mexico and left a message to call with the joke! He hadn't called by the time we left and I'm sure Ray is wondering what the hell the joke is!!
Casey informed us that, until a couple of weeks ago, he had no idea OUR last name was Coots. Seriously. Apparently, some guy came into his work, asked him who his mom & dad were and then informed him he was related to the Coots'. Casey denied it, believing this to be true. He also has no idea of who this guy is, which really irks me. I made him call Wade to see if he knew who the guy was. Those of you who know Wade will know the result of THAT question. Those Barnetts!!! I myself have had occassion to deny relationship to certain Coots', usually when in the company of police officers, but at least I know how all the families are connected.
But, I digress. The party was nice, weather was good, food was great, blah blah blah. You may or may not see some pics on here. The Brooks' are headed our way and we have another party next Saturday for Daddy John (80th birthday). And THAT, I believe, will take care of the festivities for this clan this summer!

American Idol Results
Tony took 3rd place in his workshop contest--Bob Johnson, the virtuoso of Chuck Berry tunes and old rock and roll took first with singing "Sweet Little Sixteen" and Gregory took second. They had a number of guest singers who were staff or acquaitances of staff and were excellent.
Although, Tony got 3rd he was still pretty thrilled to have been in it and he will also being going to Columbus on the trip with Greg as Bob has already said he doesn't want to go. It ended with lots of dancing and laughter, an inspiration to all who attended.

GO AHEAD
and post any pics you have from the wedding and/or the weekend. I can't add another page to this so we'll have to post them all on here. If you have a lot of pics, you might want to put them on photobucket, picasa or flickr; if you do that, you can just put a snapshot or something in your post to link to that site. Another option is to do a slide show like the one I did before....we can view a lot of pics without it taking up a whole page. All three sites are easy and I believe, free.
***Edited to add: I set up an account on Flickr for anyone here to use........Yahoo ID is thecootsconnection and the password is mom's maiden name (lower caps). I just set it up so it's ready for pictures. I think you can probably use your name to group the pics, but I'm not sure. If you don't know mom's maiden name, you will have to call me, email me or ask your Coots parent (where applicable).
I'm looking forward to seeing all the pics. I didn't take any but I know some of you did and when Brandy gets back we'll get to see hers.
Ohio people - don't forget: Johnny, Peg, Zach, John, Becky and the girls will be up here July 4th - 8th!

American Idol Finals for Tony
The American Idol competition finals are Tuesday, June 26th, @ 6:30 p.m. *not the usual 6:45 p.m. for any of you "fans" who wish to attend and root him on to the winner's circle. Greg, Tony & Bob are the final 3. The grand prize is the winner going to Columbus to see those other American Idol people in concert. Ain't that cool?!!
More Scoop from Georgia
We had a great time as well--particularly w/having Tricia & Dylan with us. It's a reminder that we don't spend near enough time w/ ALL our family. I especially enjoyed Dylan's stories. He has some very interesting insights as to the workings of the world. Amelia & I are at home today since the van had to go back to the shop to finish up what Day's Chevrolet did to it over the weekend.
Looking forward to the festivities next week having our Georgia kin up here for the holiday. CU soon.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a blast at the wedding.. it was the most beautiful ceremony that I have ever seen. i am currently at my Bff's house in Gainesville enjoying myself. It's almost like being at a resort!! Wait until I tell everybody what Elise and her daughter got me as a gift. i cried when they gave it to me.I am going to have to come home more often to visit......Love all Ya'll and I had such a wonderful time visiting everybody especially my nieces....not to mention that I had a wonderful visit with my Mom and Dad and my brothers!!! I love all of you!! see you in about a week
AND WE'RE BAAAACK!
The wedding was wonderfully fantabulous and a great time was had by all this weekend! We're back to our respective homes and Brandy & Rob are honeymoooooning in Hawaii.
I am going to see if I can set up a subpage or something to post all the pics I imagine will be flooding in soon.....but I'm too tired now; I'm hoping for an early night tonite. I guess I'm just too old for these road trips anymore. Glad I went and glad to be home. Thanks to Darrell & Joyce and Peg & Johnny for being such great hosts - we all appreciate everything you did!
