Wesley

well yesterday we did the shower thing and it took 2 1/2 hours total for a shower. needless to say we wont be doing that every day. That really wore him out. I think that he's been sitting up too much so I've been trying to get him to lay down more.Luckily he's not fighting me too much on that. I'll probably be here fro another week or so . I wont leave until I know that wes can do things for himself while he's home alone during the day. I will try to keep ya'll posted evryday on his progress ok? well I'm going to go see if he's ready to get up this morning. Talk to everybody later

michelle, wes probably doesn't need a shower every day since he's not very active right now. two or three times a week should be good. remember to get michael to help him with his showers so he can do it after you go back home. if he's having problems standing up to take a shower, how about getting him one of those shower chairs? i don't think they are too terribly expensive. his dad's probably gonna have to help him for awhile with this, but if wes is sitting down and they get it done quickly, maybe he can leave the braces off & won't have to dry them afterwards. i don't know, just trying to think of something that might help. thanks for keeping us updated! we're all thinking of you & wes.

he washes himself in the shower and as long as he's sitting or standing he has to have the braces on. it's just before shower oyu have to take it off to get his clothes off then put it back on then take it back off and handwash the lining of bothe braces and dry. In the meantime he has to lay on a a pallet on the floor or bed or couch. rub him down with babypowder get his clothes on being carefull not to move him too much. then put both braces back on.
