LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION
Well, we got our electric back on thursday(i think). So no more poopy in the woods. Within two hours of getting our electric back, the dumb farmer across the road ran his corn picker into the telephone pole and knocked out the phone line. the phone company came out and said the pole had a hot wire so we would have to wait for DP&L to come out. So i guess they came out yesterday (tuesday), because we now have our phone back today! Now we only have to wait on ALLSTATE INS. to get their sorry slow asses out here. They said that they have priorities! Such as people that are unable to live in their homes have to come first. And i told them bullshit! I am their highest priority and they better damn well recognize it! Like i give a rat's ass about anybody else! Anyway, to make a long story short, now they say they might not come out, just want us to fax them some estimates and e-mail some pictures. Why the hell didn't they say that a week ago. ALSO, sunday's newspaper had a picture of an eighty year old lady holding up a sign that said: DP&L SUCKS!, she said she hadn't been honked at that much since she was sixteen.

HMMM glad I live in the mountains on Tennessee. Although we just had our bout with gas prices. Knoxville was the highest in the country for about a week at $4.59 to $4.99. On a good note I played in a softball tournament last weekend and my team came in 5th, not bad for a new team. I hiope to have pics up on here soon. in closing I would like to say Happy birthday to Michelle and Dad. Hope to see everyone in October.

REASON #564 WHY TO MOVE TO UTAH
cause the mountains block the hurricanes, nuff said except for hahahahahahaha!
REASON #563 NOT TO LIVE IN OHIO: IKE
Yep, Doug wasn't kidding. Ike decided that (despite the state's motto) Texas WASN'T big enough and for fun, came up here to show us what a hurricane really felt like. So, except for no water and very little rain (which came later), we got to experience 70+ mph winds for about 5 hours or so. Over 700,000 people were without power in the greater Cincinnati area and about 300,000 in the Dayton area.
Pete's power came back on Sunday around 5:30 or 6. My power came back on Tuesday around 1:30 pm. Doug STILL has no power. The people behind me and over to Lehigh back to Lamme still have no power, nor do many other around here. Haven't heard from Ray & Lola, so I don't know if they have any or not, I know Tricia didn't have any power as of Tuesday morning. Pete and I just happened to think of John and Zola, one of us will try to check on them Wednesday. There is problems with the phone lines too, so I don't know. My cell works, of course, but my home phone quit working yesterday. Haven't heard anything from Michelle and I know Butler county was hit hard too, but I'm assuming she's okay.
It's not been fun. Most of the stores are closed and the ones that are open are running out of supplies fast and are packed. Same thing for gas stations and fast food restaurants. DP&L are still forecasting it will take up to Saturday or Sunday to get everyone back on line. They apparently use some kind of cloaking device on their trucks and workers since no one has actually SEEN a DP&L truck or worker since this happened.
Frickers burned to the ground early Monday morning. It took them about 5 hours to put out the fire. I know this since there was a fire truck on my street in front of my house running the entire time (it took many trucks, fire hydrants and water hoses to put that fire out). Also, the smoke from the fire blew into my apartment through the only window I can open. (if you're thinking what a fun time i had that night, you'd be so NOT right.) Most of the schools have been closed. It's been a real mess. Be glad you aren't here.
Still, it could be a lot worse - the people in Texas aren't having much fun either.
I always thought "Ike" was such a nice, grandfatherly name. Turns out, Ike is a right bastard.
Some pics I borrowed from the dailynews.

WORST WIND STORM IN OHIO HISTORY
WELL, WE ARE STILL HERE! NO WATER AND NO ELECTRIC SINCE SUNDAY. WE ARE STARTING TO GET PRETTY THIRSTY AND PRETTY SMELLY. WE HAVE WELL WATER, SO WITHOUT ELECTRIC WE HAVE NO WATER AT ALL. NO FLUSH THE TOILET. NO SHOWER. NO WASH THE CLOTHES. WE HAVE BEEN COOKING ON THE GRILL, ON AN OPEN FIRE, USING CANDLES AND FLASHLIGHTS. AND POOPING IN THE WOODS. I GUESS WE'LL BREAK DOWN AND GET A HOTEL TONIGHT. DP&L SAYS IT MAY BE SATURDAY BEFORE ALL POWER IS RESTORED. ALLSTATE INSURANCE SAYS IT WILL TAKE 3 DAYS TO COME OUT AND ASSESS THE DAMAGE. WE HAVE ABOUT 5 TREES, OR PART OF, THAT ARE DOWN. A LOT OF SHINGLES ARE OFF OUR ROOF. THE FENCEWALL BETWEEN OUR HOUSE AND GARAGE BLEW DOWN. THE BACK YARD LOOKS LIKE A WAR ZONE. SHINGLES BLEW ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE GRAVEL PIT.

SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAYS

AT THE BEGINNING OF A NEW SCHOOL YEAR, IT'S IMPORTANT TO LOOK BACK...
Here's Doug back when he was a clean cut young man.....but you can tell by the hip goatee, he was already taking a glance at the wild side........

And not even a year or so later, after listening non stop to that "new" rock n roll music (and coincidentally, after watching an early episode of the Monkees), he appears much more "hip"

As much fun as this has been, in all fairness, I must add a photo from my "future librarian" days..........
Go ahead, do yourselves. You know you want to!

THINGS TO PONDER
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET SCARED HALF TO DEATH TWICE?
WHAT IS ANOTHER WORD FOR THESAURUS?
I'VE HAD AMNESIA AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER
I DON'T SUFFER FROM INSANITY, I ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT
ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU HAVE DIFFERENT FINGERS
YOU CAN'T HAVE EVERYTHING, WHERE WOULD YOU PUT IT?
REMEMBER, YOU ARE UNIQUE, JUST LIKE EVERBODY ELSE
WHY IS ABBREVIATION SUCH A LONG WORD?
