Stuff
Ray and I aren't doing much yet--we are still adjusting to not having Amelia @ home--oh, wait--she hasn't REALLY been at home but intermittently for about 2 years. However, we have much more freedom to come and go as we like. She is living near the corner of Wilmington and Patterson (for right now). She has all but stopped going to school. We would like to see her graduate but she is under the spell of a less than ambitious slacker with whom she has been associated over the past 2 years as well. We just say she is in "gypsy mode"--going from here to there, leaving her stuff and getting kicked out of wherever they are when the people living wherever get tired of them sponging . She has had a couple of opportunities to get into some programs to help her get a job, place to live and make some positive changes but can't seem to get away from "Mr. Wonderful" long enough to get anything started. We hate seeing her living like she is but it's her choices that have led her down this path so we're letting her get the results of her choices without benefit of financial assistance from us. We feed her occasionally just to let you know that we're not completely heartless but we're not allowing her to come back home, nor per her, does she want to--so it's working out all around for the time being anyway.
We are going to be working on the house over the next few weeks to convert her room into an office and redo the dining room which had suffered the wrath of the winter with some leaks that have ruined the walls and ceiling.
So that's what's going on here.

Casey's Going Away Gathering
Pete hosted a gathering for Casey (seen here with his "favorite" uncle) on Sat. Feb. 28th--he will be leaving for the service this coming weekend. Haley, Noah, Katie & Chris, Doug, Kathy & Jordan, Ray, Lola & Amelia (who?), Kim, Ron--were all there to give him a royal Coots' sendoff and of course, Casey proved WHY he will be sorely missed at future gatherings. :)

Romantic Valentine's Weekend Getaway.

Ray & I were able to get away for a few days while Amelia was still away for more than a few days and went to Milwaukee to the Harley Davidson Museum. Not your typical romantic getaway but it was very cool. We spent 5 1/2 hours in the museum and saw some of downtown Milwaukee including the clock in the middle of the city that we all used to see on Laverne and Shirley.
The top photo is the Harley that Elvis Presley purchased from the Memphis Harley Davidson dealership--had the original paper work in the display case in front of it. Ray was being interactive with the compression demonstration. The last photo is the first motorcycle produced by Harley Davidson--displayed in the "hyperbaric" chamber.
There was a really interesting display about the first of their racing teams. Motorcycles (some very unique ones--like the Rhinestone bike) had been donated by owners; there was a video wall of Harley owners' stories; the design lab was really great too--got to see how the plans went from brown paper bags to clay models to the real thing. There was one area totally dedicated to the Harley in the movies--like Easy Rider, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, a number of those old cheesy, bad biker movies--it was a continuous showing of clips from all of them plus some of the memorabilia from them.
Yes, it was cold in Milwaukee and it did snow briefly but not a lot. It was fun anyway.
