OIL LEASE
Per Jim Coots, he has been very busy this past year but is now ready to move on the oil lease. He wants to know if we want to contact his attorney and have him represent/advise us too. He is also asking this of his two brothers and Jane Kirk (JP's wife who is acting for Mabel Kirk). If we all have this attorney act for us, he will probably give us a discount since he will be representing at least 13 people. We need to decide this and give attorney a call within the next week if we are....
Let me know via email or phone (no internet at home except phone so i can access email and facebook).

Funny Video (inappropriate, but funny!)
This is a You Tube video that Rob has been watching over and over again for the past 2 weeks. He thinks it is hilarious! Apparently a reporter was trying to do a news cast and the guy in the video interrupted. Anyhoo - Rob thought you might like it too.

POTATO SOUP RECIPE
ROBIN'S EASILY HOMEMADE SAUSAGE AND POTATO SOUP
1 pkg (1 lb) smoked sausage, sliced
1 pkg Potatoes O'Brien
2 cans chicken broth
3 cups of milk
1 pkg of Idahoan Loaded Baked Potato instant mashed potatoes
Parmesan cheese
In large pot or dutch oven, add potatoes o'brien, chicken broth and sausage slices. Cook on low for 30 to 40 minutes until potatoes are tender.
Add 3 cups of milk and simmer until milk is thoroughly heated. Slowly add instant potatoes, stirring constantly until dissolved (for thicker soups, add most of pkg; for more soup-y thickness, only add about 1/2 of pkg). Cook on low for several more minutes, stirring frequently.
Serve with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.
This is my recipe I made up so these are the ingredients i used...you can tweak it and make it more to your liking - maybe use diced ham instead of sausage, use garlic flavor instant potatoes instead of loaded baked potato, top with cheddar cheese instead of parmesan. You might want to try it this way first though, it came out really good and the instant potatoes gave it a lot of flavor and texture. This probably made about 6 to 8 servings. Also, i used the whole pkg of instant potatoes and it made it very thick and hearty, almost like a stew.

New Member of Family & Updates
For those of you who don't know or haven't seen her, this is Taylor Sophia Grace Coots, Amelia's daughter. She was born on Ray's birthday at 9:55 p.m. weighing in at 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 20 inches long.
She is about 7 weeks old now and smiling pretty and making noises. Amelia & Taylor are staying with Brittany, Robbie's daughter, near Arcanum, a fur piece from here. Amelia is doing okay so far with her. There have been some bumps in the road but there will always be with her I think. She is doing much better than anticipated but has a long way to go. One step, one day at a time.
Other Coots on Schantz News is that Ray was called to work by the disaster recovery company he has been getting certified with since he was involuntarily retired last September. He is doing inspections out near Chicago on the south side. He's been there since this past Monday. Please keep him in your prayers for his safe return. We aren't sure how long he'll be gone 2 weeks or a month.

STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES
The answers were kind of interesting: riding a harley, grilling on the patio, no electronics.
So, I'm asking...what do YOU do to stop for a little while and just BE?
I'll go first. The noises of life really get to me and I like to try to get away from them. Taking Pippa for a walk in the park, gazing at a fire and listening to the wood pop and sitting around outside after dark, chatting with my family and watching the lightning bugs. All of these tend to calm me and soothe my soul.
What brings you a little peace these days? (i'm being serious, so no smart ass answers please)

ANOTHER DEATH.....
Jan had been diagnosed with kidney cancer on May 13th. Kathy and Rick were taking care of her at their home but the cancer was extremely aggressive and spread too rapidly for treatment.
There is only going to be a simple graveside service on Wednesday at 1pm at Hillgrove Cemetary in Miamisburg. Ray and I are planning to attend and I think Pete is going to try to go also.
Jan was a very sweet lady who always made me feel welcome. I really enjoyed knowing her. Pete and I had a chance to visit with her a couple of times recently and she had so much grace and dignity during her final weeks. She said when she was first diagnosed that she did not want anyone to cry for her but to laugh with her. . . .she wanted to enjoy her time left. No one could've imagined that time would be so short.
Please keep Kathy, Rick, Howard and all of Jan's family in your thoughts and prayers.

SAD NEWS
Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. Both will be at Newcomer funeral home on Kettering Blvd.
Doyle was always one of my favorite people. He was a good man with a great sense of humor, a good dad to his kids and he recently met and married the love of his life, Deb. Doyle stayed positive and fought hard during his 1 1/2 year struggle with cancer. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Please keep Casey, Kati, Deb and all his family in your thoughts and prayers.

FAMILY FUN DAY UPDATE(D)
Also in attendance: Tricia, Kyle, Logan and Dylan; Tammy, Larry and Shelbea; Sue and Tony; Raylene and Tony; Rianna, Tony and three of their kids; and Kim, Kent, Hayley, Jasmine, Noah and Casey.
There was plenty of food: hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, polish sausages (thanks to Ray aka The Cowboy Grillmaster); baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, pasta salad, taco salad, mexican chicken, plenty of chips and dips and salsa, and for dessert there was brownies, cupcakes, cookies and pies.
All in all, I think there were about 30 people there, which was great! Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures (!!) but I think Raylene and Lola took some. I'll post whatever pics I can scrounge from them soon.
Thanks to everyone for showing up and bringing food, etc! Hopefully, we'll have even more people turn out for the next one!
Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day (mine was spent with the baby shower brigade tracking down invitations)!
Come on, Summer, we're ready for you!
Next family event: Brandy's baby shower on June 27th.

JOHN BROOKS
John passed away a little after 11 pm tonight at Miami Valley hospital. Zola, Michelle and Sunshine were with him.
Johnny and Peg are on their way here, just had a text from Peg and they're in Cincy (at 12 am). I told Peg it was snowing here and had started right about the time John left us. I figured it was John's way of saying GOODBYE to Ohio and the nasty cold weather!
Rest in peace, John. May your eternity be filled with warm and sunny days, green grass that always needs mowing and a plentiful garden!

JOHNNY'S DAD UPDATE
John has been moved out of ICU into a semi private room. He has suffered multiple mini strokes and mini heart attacks while in the hospital. He is very, very weak and cannot eat on his own so he has a feeding tube.
The prognosis is not good, he will almost definitely not be coming home from the hospital. It's just a matter of waiting, now.
Peg & Johnny, etc are headed home tonight. Hopefully they will be able to get some rest and return to work for awhile before coming this way again.
Let's keep John and all the Brooks' in our thoughts and prayers.

OIL LEASE UPDATE
I have communicated with the
As I have previously explained, I cannot represent anyone else on this. However, I am happy to include you on communications I have with the oil company so that you can request whatever changes on your own that you want to be made on your behalf as the process goes forward. In order to do that, I would need a written acknowledgment from each of you that your understand that I am not representing you, and that you are not relying on any advice that I have provided. I know you may think I am being paranoid about this, but this is something I need to do professionally to protect myself.
I will be in touch. In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions.
PS -- as part of all this, you may very well want to retain your own attorney and obtain advice on this. The relationship with the KY attorney is strictly between me and him. I would encourage each of you to seek individual legal guidance and advice from a knowledgeable attorney who practices in this area. That attorney could either by the attorney I have been dealing with, or someone else who he might be able to recommend. There is some minor expense involved in retaining an attorney for this purpose, but obviously I believe it is worth spending some money at this point to help make an informed decision.
PSS -- if you want to use the same attorney I am using, it may be that we can share in the expense I have incurred thus far, which is under $1K. You would need to contact him directly and see what sort of arrangement can be worked out between each of you and him, individually. If you want to do that, let me know and I will send his contact info and let him know that you will be contacting him. Thanks.
Hey Jim,
Thanks for letting me know what's going on. i absolutely understand and can appreciate you having to protect yourself professionally.
I will need to pass this information on to my clan and see what they want to do; my feeling is we will probably want to use the same attorney and therefore we can all share expenses (and let's face it, there's nine in my family - that's got to help). If we could do that, it would probably be the most beneficial to all of us. That's my thinking, but I will need to wait and see what the rest say. If you want to go ahead and forward the attorney's information to me, that would be fine.
Mark and I have still not received our letters from the oil company. Do you have the contact information so I can call and get those out to us?
Also, do you have a time frame of when you will be proceeding with your offer to the oil company? If we all were to use the same attorney and, therefore make the same counteroffer to the oil company, we may want to think about doing it in the same time period. Would you agree?
As far as written acknowledgments from each of us, that should not be a problem. I am wondering if you would accept an email stating that from each of us instead?
Thanks again for the information. I'll let you know what we've decided and I'll look forward to hearing from you.
So, what say you all? First let me tell you that both of Jim's brothers and Mabel Kirk's daughter in law were included in these messages so there would be at least 13 people involved in this counteroffer...and probably more. I think that might be good if we could all use the same attorney and have to pay less for his advice. Less than $100 bucks apiece maybe.
My thinking on this is I doubt Jim would pay $1000 to a fellow attorney to get back a couple hundred, so it might be a good (and feasible) counteroffer he has in mind.
Let me know what you each think we should do on this. I will call Pete, Mike and Rick and let them know about this. I'll let you know what they say.

OKAY, JUST TO CLEAR THIS UP.....
I AM NOT SENDING YOU EMAILS.
I DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY GO OUT OR HOW OFTEN THEY GO OUT. THEY ARE SPAM AND PROBABLY CONTAIN A VIRUS! DO NOT OPEN THEM AND DELETE THEM.
THERE IS NO NEED TO TELL ME YOU GOT THEM BECAUSE I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THEM, JUST DELETE THEM. DO NOT FORWARD THEM BACK TO ME, DOUG!!!! BECAUSE WHAT HAPPENS IS I DON'T KNOW THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND I OPEN YOUR EMAIL AND BANG!! NOW MY COMPUTER DOESN'T WORK.
BY THE WAY, DOUG, I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU DOING THAT. REALLY. ASSHOLE.
If for any reason, I need to send any of you an email, I will put something in the subject line - such as: this email is safe or okay to open, not spam.
I have changed my password on my hotmail account, so hopefully no more will be sent out.
As stated above, my laptop is no longer working so i will only be online when i stop at the library to use it.

DO NOT OPEN AN EMAIL FROM ME
I suspect someone hacked into my blog and/or my email account. I don't know for sure, it's the only thing i can think of. I'm afraid if this is true it may contain a virus, so don't open that email, just delete without opening.
Sorry!
