Latest Update On Susan's Condition

I spoke with Pete tonight about Susan's condition. She was moved to the nursing home in Corbin very briefly on Wednesday since it was the only facility within miles to have a bed available. She was there only an hour when her temp spiked to 103 abd was sent to the nearest hospital (Thank GOD, NOT back to Harlan). She is now at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. By all accounts, it is a MUCH better facility than where she was. PRAISE GOD!!
She has been diagnosed with urinary tract and staph infections, as well as being dehydrated, still. There is also serious concern regarding her spleen and a mass on one of her lungs. She has been started on antibiotics and a new feeding tube was inserted in her stomach. Further testing and scans on the lung and spleen were to be done tonight.
She is still unresponsive. Per Karen, when Susan was started on the new course of treatments after arriving at the hospital, she did open her eyes briefly and licked her lips, but beyond that, it was blank stares, very briefly. She has closed her eyes again and not opened them since. There will be no scan for brain activity at this time due to Medicare constraints.
Her girls, Karen, Betsy and Judy as well as Tara, her granddaughter, and, of course, Wanda and Sherry will be looking in on her. They are very pleased with the level of care that is being given her at this time. The new doctor is making all efforts to make her comfortable and find out what they are dealing with in regard to her very serious condition. Test results should be forthcoming over the course of the next few days.
Suffice to say, Susan is very, very ill. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. I will post updates as I know them.
