I have been researching this some more, and there are rooms available in Hazard, KY on the weekend of June 27-29. The rooms are at the Super 8, and the rates are more reasonable ($53-$56 per night). Ray and Lola - were you able to contact the rental house? That may be a better deal - if it's available.
Rob and I are still very interested in going! What do you think???? Do those dates work? We could consider maybe Labor Day weekend instead...or another weekend this summer...whatever works for everyone! And MARK...where have you been? You have to get back here for this!

um. i don't think hazard is near cumberland. i mean, close enough to stay. pineville or middlesboro would probably be closer but still a bit of a drive, especially at night, especially with gas prices, etc. just saying.
mark, you might as well answer her. she won't give up and soon she'll start writing, then calling and one day, there will come a knock at the door....
i've had the knock on the door. it was sunday night. its not pretty.
We have tried several times to get in touch with the "house" but no answer. We will try to call the Poor Fork Craft Store where the ladies were so kind to give us the info to begin with. I was talking with Pete on Sunday and we were discussing the log house @ the Pine Mountain Settlement School and that's WAY off the beaten path.
I am looking at the website tonight.
it's not that far, just over the mountain......not far from the bucolic scenery of line fork. but if i remember correctly, it's hot in them buildings. no a/c?
I called about the Benham Schoolhouse Inn this morning. No openings the weekend of June 27th, but they were wide open the weekend of July 11th. We tried to call the Cumberland Motel this weekend (the one where "Brenda" works....I think this is where everyone stayed last time) and apparently it has been completely shut down. Crazy! So anyhoo...that's what I have from this end.
just out of curiosity, what in the hell could possibly be going on in cumberland to where there is no rooms available? i mean come on there aint that many hillbillies that live there. i just dont get it. its in the middle of nowhere and hickville. but ya'll have fun now you hear 'cause i'll be watching my brother from another mother
well, Ya'll can count me out. Money is very tight.(ramen noodles anyone?) And anyway the price of gas is outragous Too much going on here...
