FAMILY FUN DAY UPDATE(D)

Family fun day yesterday was a great success! We had all the brothers and sisters there except for Darrell and Mark - you guys were missed!

Also in attendance: Tricia, Kyle, Logan and Dylan; Tammy, Larry and Shelbea; Sue and Tony; Raylene and Tony; Rianna, Tony and three of their kids; and Kim, Kent, Hayley, Jasmine, Noah and Casey.

There was plenty of food: hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, polish sausages (thanks to Ray aka The Cowboy Grillmaster); baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, pasta salad, taco salad, mexican chicken, plenty of chips and dips and salsa, and for dessert there was brownies, cupcakes, cookies and pies.

All in all, I think there were about 30 people there, which was great! Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures (!!) but I think Raylene and Lola took some. I'll post whatever pics I can scrounge from them soon.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and bringing food, etc! Hopefully, we'll have even more people turn out for the next one!

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day (mine was spent with the baby shower brigade tracking down invitations)!

Come on, Summer, we're ready for you!

Next family event: Brandy's baby shower on June 27th.

FAMILY FUN DAY - MAY 30, 2010

Family Fun Day
Sunday, May 30, 2010
Germantown Dam MetroPark
10 am until ????

Let's all get together and kick off the summer season!
Everyone welcome!

I will bring pasta salad, plates, napkins, silverware
Pete will bring baked beans and lemon bars
We will need meat (fried chicken?) more side dishes, pop/water/ice, chairs and games
Doug has some outdoor games he can bring
There is fishing available nearby, walking trails and other stuff
The shelters I am thinking of are near the scenic overlook and there are potty facilities close by and parking but still kind of private with lots of green space
These shelters can't be reserved so Pippa and I will go early and hold it

Let's plan to spend the day there!
We'll eat, play and visit!

Comment here and let me know who will be there and what you will bring

GOOD FOR THE SOUL

Took Pippa to Germantown Dam. Listened to the wind in the trees and the water rushing in the creek. No cars, no people, no planes, no music, NO NOISE.

Sometimes I forget there are still places like this around.

It was good for the soul.

A new picture of Mom

I found this picture of Mom on Chance's facebook, it was taken at one of his birthday parties. Look how young and happy she looks! And look - there's a baby Brandy and a very young Tammy beside her.

THANKS

First off i want to start by saying thanks to Pete, Robin, Rick(who i haven't seen in 12 years), Doug, Lola and a special thanks to Ray for coming to my papaw's viewing and funeral. Ray, thanks so much for taking the time to put together the video for us. it turned out great and was very emotional. Robin, thanks for being there for me on Monday night. my only regret is that i wasn't a better grandson. i didn't spend nearly enough time with him. i regret that. I'm glad i got to see him back at the beginning of the month all be it in the hospital. i chose not to go back up there to see him after the heart attack and stroke because i didn't want to remember him like that. that i do not regret. i will always remember him for his goofiness, from peanut butter bologna to hitting the mute button during commercials. i will remember the way the used to walk around like John Wayne and pull his imaginary guns from his side and how here in the past few years would come and rub my bald spot and then point at his and say "i have one too". i will never forget him.

i love you papaw.
