Casey's Going Away Gathering

Pete hosted a gathering for Casey (seen here with his "favorite" uncle) on Sat. Feb. 28th--he will be leaving for the service this coming weekend. Haley, Noah, Katie & Chris, Doug, Kathy & Jordan, Ray, Lola & Amelia (who?), Kim, Ron--were all there to give him a royal Coots' sendoff and of course, Casey proved WHY he will be sorely missed at future gatherings. :)

Romantic Valentine's Weekend Getaway.

Ray & I were able to get away for a few days while Amelia was still away for more than a few days and went to Milwaukee to the Harley Davidson Museum. Not your typical romantic getaway but it was very cool. We spent 5 1/2 hours in the museum and saw some of downtown Milwaukee including the clock in the middle of the city that we all used to see on Laverne and Shirley.

The top photo is the Harley that Elvis Presley purchased from the Memphis Harley Davidson dealership--had the original paper work in the display case in front of it. Ray was being interactive with the compression demonstration. The last photo is the first motorcycle produced by Harley Davidson--displayed in the "hyperbaric" chamber.
There was a really interesting display about the first of their racing teams. Motorcycles (some very unique ones--like the Rhinestone bike) had been donated by owners; there was a video wall of Harley owners' stories; the design lab was really great too--got to see how the plans went from brown paper bags to clay models to the real thing. There was one area totally dedicated to the Harley in the movies--like Easy Rider, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, a number of those old cheesy, bad biker movies--it was a continuous showing of clips from all of them plus some of the memorabilia from them.

Yes, it was cold in Milwaukee and it did snow briefly but not a lot. It was fun anyway.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been on in a bit but I havent been feeling well. If you hadn't heard I had to go back to the hospital and have 4 more stents put in (must be the Brooks in me). I'm doing fine now. I started cardiac Rehab today. It was very tiring, they made me do alot of exercise, I have to do this for atleast the next 2 months. I am hoping that I will be all healed so I can play softball this spring, I will still be coaching my other team but I want to play. I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to see everyone soon. Robin you can and need to call me sometime.

Be Kind

There's a saying that I keep getting in e-mails that reminds me to be kind to everyone as we are ALL going through struggles of one thing or another. Some of those struggles are overwhelming like a tidal wave destroying everything in one's life and then once the wreckage is visible and one sees what to do, sometimes, it can only be putting one foot in front of the other that makes that progress--little as it can be. It is still progress. Having said that, we visited Robin last weekend and took Pippa her new "prison"--we do hope that it's working out and that she is enjoying the privacy of having her own space instead of being in Robin's bathroom.
We'll check in soon.
